The month of frights and good Death metal is upon us all! And so, I decided (a long time ago, to be honest) to give you a selection of the best Death I've heard this month.

.1: The Suffocation Chapter
Suffocation... one of the first TechDeath bands, if you know them you know what you're going to get. I'm not doing separate intros for each album because, to be honest, they albums aren't that diferent. Big bits of genius hidden amongst their riffs and vocals. My favourite would be Pierced From Within and Pinnacle Of Bedlam, but Breeding The Spawn is also very, very good. It sounds like it was recorded in a school bathroom, but whatever. I'll look into it, see if I can get it at a better quality. Anyway, I feel like a warning is in order. Suffosaction may not be the best Death to start with. It's pretty (very) brutal and newcomers might get spooked.

1. Suffocation - Effigy Of The Forgotten

2. Suffocation - Breeding The Spawn

3. Suffocation - Pierced From Within

4. Suffocation - Suffocation

5. Suffocation - Pinnacle Of Bedlam

.2: The Bolt Thrower Chapter
Bolt Thrower is a band I've ignored for a while and I figured it was time I started listening. Sadly, it was around the same time they disbanded, so I'll never get to see them live. At least we have their albums. They play an old school brand of Death, but you couldn't ever tell by their album covers. Some of the covers are taken off video games, and the logo doesn't scream Death metal at all. Anyway, they are were very good in what they do did, maybe not among my favourites though.

6(66). Bolt Thrower - Realm Of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness

7. Bolt Thrower - War Master

8. Bolt Thrower - The IVth Crusade

9. Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal

.3: The Autopsy Chapter
Autopsy is a name most of you should know. If you don't, let me fill you in: they also play old-school Death, but sometimes moments of Doom (very reminiscent of Asphyx) pop in. From their '89 debut, Severed Survival, to now, they have implemented more and more of these doomy parts, which I really love. Also, the vocalist is changing his vocal style just like I switch personalities (but don't listen to him).

10. Autopsy - Severed Survival

11. Autopsy - Macabre Eternal

12. Autopsy - The Headless Ritual

.4: The Random Chapter

13. Sepultura - Schizophrenia
Before you scream "THRASH!", let me say I consider Schizophrenia more Death than any form of Thrash. But I have to adress the riffs. Oh my holy Hell, the riffs in this fucking album. Some of the sweetest things I have ever heard. Trust me and go ahead with this one.

Sepultura - Schizophrenia

14. Corrosive Carcass - Forbidden Lands
Man, this album got me hooked from the first... thing (inhaling? That's what it is) the vocalist did. It sounded so unearthly, and it set me in the mood for the album. The thing that stands out the most here is most likely some very melodic and well done solos.

Corrosive - Forbidden Lands

15. Putrevore - Tentacles of Horror
Another typical Xtreem Music Death outing, this one is very reminiscent of russian Grond's Worship The Kraken through it's sound and obvious obsession with tentacles.

Putrevore - Tentacles of Horror

16. Spawn Of Possession - Incurso
One of the modern masterpieces of TechDeath, in my honest opinion, up there with Necrophagist and Obscura. The classical music influences are flooding this album (in a good sense). I've spent around 2 years looking for this album, only having the artwork in mind, and when I found it, there was a joyous celebration of my pirating skills.

Spawn Of Possession - Incurso

17. Sophicide - Perdition Of The Sublime
On almost the same level of skill as Incurso, this TechDeath piece is unique in it's own way: the band was a one-man piece at the time PotS was released. This only makes this record better in my head.

Sophicide - Perdition Of The Sublime

18. Carcass - Surgical Steel
I'm not a big Carcass fan, since their name reminds me constantly of "casserole" (joke, the band name will never be a relevant way of judging their music). Anyway, my introduction to them was 2013's Surgical Steel, and what a stellar album this is. I really hope they were always as insanely fun and good as here. This album has a certain charm that makes me rediscover it every time I hit play.

Carcass - Surgical Steel

19. Akral Necrosis - Underlight
Akral Necrosis, fellow countrymen, keep reinforcing their title as one of my favourite Black bands. This is their latest opus and is really a masterpiece. Even if Underlight may be a fish out of water among all these Death records, it deserves it's spot on the best of October without a doubt.

Akral Necrosis - Underlight

20. Benediction - Transcend The Rubicon
This is probably Benediction's best known album, and certainly the only one I have listened to. Even with that, it doesn't have even half of the recognition it deserves. I'm not very familiar with Benediction, but you should expect them more often.

Benediction - Transcend The Rubicon

Alright, another month passes by, my playlist enlarges. I'm already thinking about a "Death For November" post. Be sure it will contain a lot of Master and some Nile. In the meantime, expect Brotherhood Of The Snake when it's out.
