Seasonal Killing Day 2: Bestial Rites of Christmas Cheer

Well, here we have another step  in my lengthy journey to reach peak caveman musical taste. Besides slam and powerviolence, which I love, bestial black metal (also known as war metal) was the next big thing, and I got to a point where I really love it, even if I don't fully understand it yet. I really want to continue to listen to it and get how it's played and made, maybe even put my own mark on this genre someday. Until then, let's see some good bestial black, folks! Like 2 years ago, I'll just offer minimal commentary on the albums, since the genre is kinda simple and it doesn't differ much between records. However, what better time to indulge in such degeneracy and blasphemy than the Second Day of Christmas? Play them loud.

#1. Blasphemy - Fallen Angel of Doom.... (1990)
*the start of the genre, and one of the best*

#2. Bestial Warlust - Vengeance War Till Death (1994)
*clearly one of the most influential bands in the scene*

#3. Antichrist Siege Machine - Schism Perpetration (2019)
*great album, came out during late summer this year*

#4. Proclamation - Messiah Of Darkness And Impurity (2008)
*shameless Blasphemy ripoff, but I love them all the same*

#5. Ululatum Tollunt - Quantum Noose of Usurpation (2017)
*good EP if you feel like taking in a little less chaos, and what a title*

#6. Bestial Raids - Prime Evil Damnation (2011)
*very raw, straight from the early decade*

#7. Eskhaton - Worship Death (2014)
*a bit more on the death metal side, this one*

#8. Archgoat - The Luciferian Crown (2018)
*one of the most well known bands, thanks to their accessible nature*

#9. Heresiarch - Death Ordinance (2017)
*above average production values on this one, a worthy album from Australia*

#10. Deiphago - I, The Devil (2019)
*cerebral bestial black, longer songs and a lot of brutality*

#11. Teitanblood - The Baneful Choir (2019)
*raw, oppressive atmosphere, evil vocals, longer length*

#12. Diocletian - Amongst The Flames Of A Burning God (2019)
*short, sweet and fresh, one of the remarkable bestial black albums from this year*

#13. Tetragrammacide - Primal Incinerators of Moral Matrix (2017)
*a band that previously played noise, the album is chaotic and different from most*

#14. Sadistik Exekution - The Magus (1991)
*old school, less chaotic and deliberate, still a lot of fun*

#15. Conqueror - War.Cult.Supremacy (1999)
*another classic, very influential album, from a band who doesn't have other records*

#16. Human Agony - Putrescence of Calvary (2019)
*an incredible album that came out a few weeks ago, absolutely lovely*

#17. Weregoat - Pestilential Rites of Infernal Fornication (2017)
*a modern classic and a perfect place to start your war metal journey*

#18. Pig's Blood - A Flock Slaughtered (2019)
*another deathy album, with pigs instead of goats*

#19. Süngehel - Celebration of the Black Goat (2016)
*very energetic and thrashy, and an incredible artwork*

#20. Black Witchery - Desecration Of The Holy Kingdom (2001)
*another classic band, another classic album, give it a go if you like bestial black*

#21. Revenge - Triumph.Genocide.Antichrist (2003)
*one of the most consistent and beloved bands in the genre, with an influential aesthetic*

#22. Abhorer - Zygotical Sabbatory Anabapt (1996)
*a lot of black metal energy and riffing on this one, another older band*

#23. Profane Order - Slave Morality (2019)
*amazing drumming, great production and heavy atmosphere*

#24. Abysmal Lord - Exaltation Of The Infernal Cabal (2019)
*very inspired Proclamation worship and a great experience for the current year*

#25. Goatkraft - Sulphurous Northern Bestiality (2019)
*a bit more accessible than your average bestial black metal album, still good*

Well, I guess that does it. I wonder what new genre we'll talk about next year? I guess we'll see then. Have a great holiday season, everyone, and keep looking for new music and bands. The future of this genre is underground and we have just had 25 great bands and albums to show us just how true that is, for one of the more obscure sides of metal.
